PASTOR OF TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH
Hello, as pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, let me welcome you to our Web Site. My name is Tommy O’Dell and I have been the pastor of Trinity since April 2003. A little history – I am a native of Mississippi but I spent most of my childhood and youth in a small town, Chickasaw, Alabama – just outside Mobile. I was raised in church but I wasn’t saved until March 12, 1960 in an old fashioned revival meeting. I surrendered to preach that summer in Pensacola, Florida. I began preaching on the streets and in the Mobile Rescue Mission and in youth rallies across the Gulf Coast. After graduating from high school, I served my country in the USAF being discharged in July 1966. Unfortunately, my Christian life took a wrong turn and for two (2) years, I played the role of Jonah, the disobedient prophet. Through a series of circumstances, the Lord brought me to Corpus Christi, Texas in the spring of 1968. There I got right with the Lord and began full-time ministry at the Weber Road Baptist Church. It was there I met my wife, Sandi, who has truly been a help-meet to me. We moved to Springfield, Missouri and I attended Baptist Bible College graduating in 1973. Our first child, Craig, was born while we were there. We moved back to Corpus Christi and I served as Staff Evangelist for two years – another child, Kari, being born there. In April 1975, I assumed the pastorate of the Sherwood Baptist Church in Houston. Later, we relocated and changed the name of the church to No. Harris County Baptist Temple. Three more daughters were born while in Houston, Julie, Jana, and Ashlae. In 1985, we became missionaries to New Zealand where we served for 5 years returning to the States in 1990 with another child, Adam. I started a church in Corpus Christi – now called Liberty Baptist Church – where we served until 1999 when we moved to Granbury, Texas where I served as Staff Evangelist until I was called as pastor of Trinity here in Grand Prairie. We have enjoyed the ministry here in the Metro-plex and plan to remain here as long as the Lord will allow us to do so.
If you are looking for a church that still stands for the Book, the Blood, and the Blessed Hope, you will find it at Trinity Baptist Church. We would love to have you visit us and feel free to contact me if I can be of service to you either at the church phone listed below or my email address. Just click pastor@tbcgp.org
MUSIC MINISTER and YOUTH MINISTER
Hi, My name is Craig O’Dell and I am the Music Director at Trinity. I have been on staff with my dad since Feb. 2004. Prior to that, I sang Baritone with two Southern Gospel groups – “N Harmony” and later “The Christian Brothers.” I grew up with a love for Gospel music singing with my dad and sisters. In August 2006, the Lord blessed me with a wonderful wife, Tammy, whose father pastors in Weatherford, Texas. The music ministry at Trinity is alive and well. We have a wonderful choir and would love to have you consider joining us as the Lord leads. Don’t hesitate to call on me if I can be a blessing to you. Email me at music@tbcgp.org
CHILDREN'S MINISTER
Hello, I am Julie Munroe and am delighted to be the Director of Children's Ministry here at Trinity Baptist Church. I have a B.S. from Baptist Bible College in Missions and Bible. I taught Christian schools in Tennessee for 9 years, mostly elementary. I have worked on the mission fields of New Zealand and China.
Here at Trinity, we make learning about our Lord Jesus Christ fun and educational. We consider every child a Blessing and treat them as the treasure they are. We engage their minds with the truth of God's Word from the Holy Bible. Come join us and bring the children.
